About Us and The 1 Alpaca Farm....
Here we met John and Margaret Cokely from Cienega Creek Farm, who were very patient with our questions and our desire to see and learn about the Alpacas. It was here that David met and fell in love with a medium brown girl who had a fancy white marking on her face. He would go and sit in the pen, on the ground and just watch this lady for hours at a time. Finally, we decided that we should buy Neve’s Estrela and she is the foundation dam of our herd. As it turned out she came with a weanling on the ground by the name of Desert Sun Royal Granger. That’s the beginning of the story and now for a little bit about our backgrounds and how we came to this place of falling in love with these beautiful and peaceful creatures. David & Terri are high school sweethearts who decided to marry while they were at the University of Iowa. We went to university on a football scholarship and after four successful years we were drafted by the St Louis Cardinals and that was the beginning of a seven year career in the NFL which also included four years as a New Orleans Saint. While David was off playing football Terri was having our children and raising them. We have four, a son, Curtis, and three daughters, Lisa, Debbie, and Jennifer. We also loved dogs and spent some years raising a couple of Great Danes. While we were in New Orleans we became interested in quarter horses and found ourselves the proud owners of some wonderful horses. So here we are at the tender ages of 65 and 64, you can guess which is which, falling in love with some spectacular animals again. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our farm website and invite you to take your time and enjoy all that you find here. David & Terri |

David & Terri Long just became Alpaca lovers and breeders in February, 2006. Driving down the busy interstate everyday and twisting our necks out of place to try and see the beautiful little creatures on the hillside just became to dangerous and we decided to get off the interstate and go check these babies out.
From that time to now we have crisscrossed the United States, living in several states and enjoying the benefits of several of David’s different occupations. These included deputy sheriff, teacher & coach at the high school level, retail jewelry, and real estate. Terri, being the more stable of the two went back to school after the children were raised and became a Registered Nurse. She has worked wonders for people in the emergency rooms of hospitals from Maryland to Arizona.
